How To Prepare for the DAT - Anh's Story.
Anh was a typical pre-dental student who got excellent grades and always wanted - as a career - to become a Dentist.
In college, Anh took a somewhat difficult schedule: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and some English courses. Although English wasn't his first language (Anh's an immigrant from Vietnam), he became fluent in English by his freshman year in college.
Anh, however, decided before his junior year in college that he wanted to become a dentist. He had heard about the amazing opportunities one gets by attending dentistry/dental school and was fascinated. Not only do dentists receive a high salary, but they have freedoms in life after practicing dentistry. Would he become a general dentist? an orthodontist? an oral surgeon? The world awaited!
So first, Anh searched for Top Dental Schools, found our ranking of the best dental schools, and noted that the average DAT score he needed was around a 17 (out of 30), so he wanted to score a 23 or higher, which would almost certainly guarantee him admission to the best dental schools.
Anh went to work... first putting together a list of "dream" dental schools...
Here's where Anh wanted to apply - "reach schools":
Harvard School of Dental Medicine
Columbia University College of Dental Medicine
University of Pennsylvania
... University of California (Los Angeles)
*The Mean/Median Score for these top Dental Schools is 22.5 or higher.*
With less than 5% acceptance rates.
Wow. The Acceptance rates were extremely challenging. How could Anh gain admission to Dental School?
After researching these schools, Anh realized that in order to get accepted to dental school, he would likely have to score in the top 5% percentile, meaning he would have to beat more than 95% of the applicants who applied.
Could he do it?
However, he Anh had only 4 months to prepare, and little test prep guidance... until he met our dental school admissions experts.
Anh had just graduated and was searching for DAT prep that top-rated, but also flexible in scheduling so he could continue his other part-time jobs.
Even if he had the motivation, intelligence, and drive to succeed, the DAT examination was one of the most challenging exams in the world.
....So He found our course on the DAT.
"The World's BEST DAT Prep Course" - Wow, Seriously?
Yes, ranked by U.S. News and several education publications.
When Anh called our test prep company, he asked three questions: "what's the best DAT program you have available?" and, "how soon could we get started with your DAT prep course?"..."And what score do I need to get in order to get accepted to dental school?" The good news is that we had the answers not only about the DAT exam, but also about his admissions questions.
We get these questions about the DAT quite often, but in Anh's case there was a sense of urgency because of his intense workload outside of preparation, which we understood. After all, the DAT exam is the most important exam that any student had throughout their academic "careers."
Ok, so you're wondering... of course, this is the part where you tell us how great your program is and how within X days he got an 100% increase in his score.... wrong!
In fact, Anh struggled on the first DAT practice exam. When he enrolled in our DAT prep program, he took more than 4 practice exams before seeing any meaningful increase in his DAT scores.
Here's an Honest (and Interesting fact) about OUr DAT prep:
More than 789 students (last year) have taken our DAT course and it took on average more than 3 weeks before students saw a 20% increase in their DAT scores.
Why are we telling you this?
Because our client satisfaction and DAT results are the highest in the industry, and you need to know it does take time... but we ALWAYS get the job done, right. And students will be satisfied with the intensive DAT prep, combined with a flexible option to study and take practice questions on his or her own schedule.
When you get accepted, like DAT did, to the best dental schools... because of our DAT prep and your hard work, you'll never forget the people and DAT tutors who helped you prepare. That's another fact that we've seen many times as we prepare students for the DAT examination.
Now here's another fact about our DAT prep:
Once Anh took the DAT exam, he increased his scores by 31 percentiles on the quantitative section of the DAT, and 18 percentiles on the verbal/reading portion of the DAT.
According to American Dental Association, here are the subjects covered on the DAT examination:
Survey of Natural Sciences (SNS): biology, general chemistry, and organic chemistry.
Perceptual Ability Test (PAT): aperture passing, orthographic projection, angle discrimination, paper folding, form development.
Reading Comprehension Test (RCT): reading and verbal comprehension
Quantitative Reasoning Test (QRT): mathematics.
We'll tell you in a little bit about how he accomplished such an amazing feat: to get a near perfect score on the DAT and to gain admission to 5 of the best dental schools in America.
...And now, you're wondering, what worked to increase his DAT scores?
Here's what he knew, that you need to know about the DAT exam.
How'd Anh increase his DAT score to the Top 1%?
The simple answer for pre-Business (MBA) students?
