How To Prepare for the GMAT - Mark's Story.
Mark was a typical pre-business student looking to attend one of the best MBA programs one day.
In college, Mark took a very rigorous schedule: Calculus, Accounting, Physics, and even advanced Chinese. Yes, he was fluent in Chinese.
Mark, however, decided after going to a decent college, graduating, and moving into the real world... to join an investment bank as an associate.
For more than three years, he oscillated back and forth on the decision of whether to attend business school. After all, he was hired to become an Investment Banker with one of the most prestigious banks - Goldman Sachs - and also got offers from Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, and Citigroup.
But after hearing about the massive salary "bumps" of his fellow banking associates (sometimes north of $100k+ more per year), he knew the investment in business school would be worth it.
So first, Mark searched for Top Business Schools, found our ranking of the best business schools, and noted that their new GMAT average/median scores were around a 710+. Wow, that's a big time score.
Mark went to work... first putting together a list of "dream" reach business schools...
Here's where Mark wanted to apply - "reach schools":
Harvard Business School (MBA)
Stanford University (MBA)
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton MBA)
... University of Chicago (Booth School MBA)
*The Mean/Median Score for these top Business Schools is 720 or higher.*
With less than 7% acceptance rates.
Wow. The Acceptance rates were extremely challenging. How could Mark gain admission?
After researching these schools, Mark realized that in order to get accepted to business school, he would likely have to score in the top 5% percentile, meaning he would have to beat more than 95% of the applicants who applied.
Could he do it?
However, he Mark had only 4 months to prepare, and little test prep guidance... until he met our business school admissions experts.
Mark also was working full-time as an investment banker - often working 80+ hours per week.
...So there any GMAT prep program had to not only be top-rated, but also flexible in its scheduling.
Even if he had the motivation, intelligence, and drive to succeed, the GMAT examination was one of the most challenging exams in the world.
....So He found our course on the GMAT.
"The World's BEST GMAT Prep Course" - Wow, Seriously?
Yes, ranked by U.S. News and several education publications.
When Mark called our test prep company, he asked three questions: "what's the best GMAT program you have available?" and, "how soon could we get started with your GMAT tutors?"..."And what score does my son need to get accepted to a top ranked business school?" The good news is that we had the answers not only about the GMAT exam, but also about his admissions questions.
We get these questions about the GMAT quite often, but in Mark's case there was a sense of urgency because of his intense workload outside of preparation, which we understood. After all, the GMAT exam is the most important exam that any student had throughout their academic "careers."
Ok, so you're wondering... of course, this is the part where you tell us how great your program is and how within X days he got an 100% increase in his score.... wrong!
In fact, Mark struggled on the first GMAT practice exam. When he enrolled in our GMAT prep program, he took more than 4 practice exams before seeing any meaningful increase in his GMAT scores.
Here's an Honest (and Interesting fact) about OUr GMAT prep:
More than 789 students (last year) have taken our GMAT course and it took on average more than 2.5 weeks before students saw a 14% increase in their GMAT scores.
Why are we telling you this?
Because our client satisfaction and GMAT results are the highest in the industry, and you need to know it does take time... but we ALWAYS get the job done, right. And students will be satisfied with the intensive GMAT prep, combined with a flexible option to study and take practice questions on his or her own schedule.
When you get accepted, like Mark did, to the best b-schools... because of our GMAT prep and your hard work, you'll never forget the people and GMAT tutors who helped you prepare. That's another fact that we've seen many times as we prepare students for the GMAT examination.
Now here's another fact about our GMAT prep:
Once Mark took the GMAT exam, he increased his scores by 27 percentiles on the quantitative section of the GMAT, and 18 percentiles on the verbal/reading portion of the GMAT.
We'll tell you in a little bit about how he accomplished such an amazing feat: to get a near perfect score on the GMAT and to gain admission to 7 out of 8 business schools.
...And now, you're wondering, what worked to increase his GMAT scores?
Here's what he knew, that you need to know about the GMAT exam.
How'd Mark increase his GMAT score to the Top 1%?
The simple answer for pre-Business (MBA) students?
